3rd Sunday of Easter
by Rev. Kilian McCaffrey | 05/01/2025 | Pastor's Letter“Yes, Lord, I love you.”
We know that St. Peter did follow Jesus and that he was martyred by crucifixion in Rome. The eyes of the world are on Rome this week. St. Peter did as Jesus asked; as the first Pope, he fed the lambs, tended the sheep, fed the sheep. We see in the Gospel, how Jesus in His tenderness and love, called Peter to turn completely toward Him and to follow Him.
Jesus brought about the conversion of His Apostles gradually, with the exception of St. Paul who experienced a famous, miraculous conversion on the Road to Damascus.
Our Beloved Jesus gently asks you and me: “Do you know Me and love Me?” The big question is, of course, how do show Jesus just how much you love Him? How do you live out Jesus’ call:
“Follow Me….”
To follow Jesus is to get involved. To follow Jesus is to be a disciple and do something beautiful for God!
I Wish I Was Going Fishing:
I am not going fishing. I am traveling to Medugorje for a three-week retreat. Rest assured, I will be praying for you all and for all of your special needs.
How will you glorify God this week?
The Conclave Begins: The conclave to elect Pope Francis' successor officially begins Wednesday of this week, May 7th, as the last preparatory phase for the election of the 267th Pope.
It is a fascinating, exciting time to be an active, practicing Catholic. Unlike the recent movie, which I have not seen, the this is the real-time working of the Holy Spirit in our lives. This is a time for deep prayer and reflection for the needs of the Church by all of the members at a critical time in history.
This process of asking God in our prayers of petition, of turning to the Lord in time of need, is the essence of a stewardship way of life. Be strong in prayer. Pray that God gives us the Shepherd (and Fisherman). God is so good.
Like the disciples, they are those who continue to get back up after each fall, Good stewards simply have more confidence in the goodness and providence of the Lord than anything else.
If we provide the disciples, the nets and the boat, God will give us a great catch. Thank you all for your generosity toward Blessed Sacrament Parish.
